The joy of skiing in french alps

There's a good reason why the French mountains offer so much variety and choice. it's so that every taste can be catered for !

  • Qualified instructors, to introduce you to the joy of snowsports or to guide you when off-piste.
  • Unique ski-passes that let you go from one resort to another, clocking up endless kilometres of runs.
  • Ski runs to suit all levels, so that you can ride at your own pace, snowboard on your own or ski in a group.
  • Different types of accommodation, so you can get away as a family, with friends or just the two of you.

MARKERS ON THE PISTES

All the slopes are groomed, marked out and checked daily.

Green piste: easy
Blue piste: average
Red piste: difficult
Black piste: very difficult

SAFETY

Respect the piste markers and information on the slopes.
Make sure you check the opening and closing times of the ski lifts so that you are able to get back to resort at the end of the day.

It is advisable for children to wear helmets.

We advise you take part in off-piste skiing only when accompanied by a mountain professional.

LIFT PASSES

Resorts provide different types of lift pass with increasingly flexible formulas to satisfy different requirements. In addition to the traditional half- or day pass, 3 or 6 day pass, you can also find hourly passes. Further information can be obtained from the Tourist Office or lift company in your resort.

Tour operator packages often include a pass for the length of your stay.

Skiing in french Ski resorts

E.S.F. (Ecole de Ski Français)

French Ski Schools (ESF) welcome you in all resorts either as a beginner or to perfect your technique in any of the disciplines. Instructors usually speak your language and provide high quality instruction.

EQUIPMENT

All the necessary equipment to practise the sport of your choice and to suit your level of experience can be hired in each resort. A wide choice of good quality equipment and advice from specialists on technical and safety aspects is available.

NEW SPORTS

A large number of resorts today are equipped with areas dedicated to snow riding (snowboarding, snowblades etc.)

Further information can be obtained from the lift company, Tourist Office or ESF, on access to the snowparks (half pipes, ramps, boardercross courses etc.) and the teaching of these activities.
